Help! does God want me out of debt?

Owe no man anything but to love one another: for he that loveth another has fulfilled the law (Romans 13:8).

The only debt for the believer to never pay in full is the debt of love. Isn't it strange that people find it hard to love those they owe? family members become angry with one another, friends avoid one another and creditors can hardly ever have a friendly conversation over the phone. God will never be indebted to mankind because of this love principle.

He so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son (John 3:16) and the son paid the full price for our redemption with his blood. Isaiah 55 says ho everyone that thirsteth, come ye to the waters and he that hath no money: come ye buy and eat yea come buy wine and milk without money and without price. The reason he says to come without money and without price is because the price has already been paid. Proverbs 19:17 says he that has pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

Yes God pays his debts because he wants love to continue to flow freely without hindrance. With millions of people in debt today certainly God wants them out because then the surplus can be used to show love to others. The purpose of this hub is to give hope to those who may be in debt. Be responsible by being a good steward over what God has blessed you with and trust him to help bring you out of debt. God is not a respecter of persons so if we can find in the bible where he miraculously cancelled debt for someone, then he will do the same today because he is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8).

 And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses: and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold and raiment (Exodus12:35).

And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it and the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea (Exodus14:27).

Notice in the above verses of scripture how debt was drowned never to return when the Egyptians were drowned in the red sea. This is not to suggest that God removes creditors, but he can and will remove debt.

                                     Lost axe head recovered:

But as one was felling a beam the axe head fell into the water, and he cried and said alas master for it was borrowed. (2Kings 6:5)

In the Old Testament account of this story, axe heads were a very expensive tool in that time period. The poor man was simply working and lost the expensive axe head into the water and was immediately in debt. Doesn't that sound alot like today, the more honest work that one does the more debt that seems to mount. Of course one must live within ones means and be a good steward by not buying wants and begging needs. But there are things that can happen beyond a persons control that can cause immediate debt such as a loss of employment, emergencies, lawsuits, and so on. The grief of this man could be heard and felt in his voice as he cried ALAS MASTER FOR IT WAS BORROWED! God does care and is concerned about what concerns us. The man went to the man of God Elisha the prophet:

and the man of God said where fell it? and he shewed him the place and he cut down a stick and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim. Therefore said he take it up to thee, and he put out his hand and took it. (2 Kings 6:7)

 In Matthew 17:24 we find that Jesus owed a tax bill along with Peter. Jesus told Peter in Matthew 17:27 "lest we should offend them" which is an example of love having the potential of being affected because of debt as stated in the beginning of this hub (owe no man nothing but to love one another).

Jesus tells Peter to go thou to the sea and cast a hook which was something that he was gifted and had a knowledge of doing because he was a fisherman. Many times people may get into further trouble by trying new things that sound good as far as raising money instead of doing what they already have a passion for. Its hard to try building an ark in the rain which simply means when its storming in ones life, its more productive to do what one has a knowledge of doing instead of being stressed out trying to do something new.

When Peter caught the first fish there was a coin in its mouth just as Jesus had said there would be, and he paid Jesus debt first (giving to the Lord first prepares one to receive his help) and then paid his own debt which could be the result for one as they pay Jesus first(helping to spread the gospel and give to the needy) through tithe and offerings (Malachi 3:8-11).
